A little about us...

Erica and I met each other in 2000, shortly before we both were leaving to live in China for two years.  During the next couple of years, our relationship grew deeper, and we were married on October 5, 2002.

After living in North Carolina for about a year and a half, while I finished my masters degree, we moved back to China.  We arrived back in China just a few days before Christmas of 2003.

Since that time we have been living in South Central China, studying Chinese.  Our first daughter, Elizabeth, was born in the spring of 2005 and our second daughter, Anna, was born in the spring of 2006.  Both were born in Hong Kong.  In November of 2007, we welcomed a baby boy to our family.  Nate was born in Fort Worth, Texas.

Our Chinese language study continues to come along slowly.  We are not doing formal language study right now, but we continue to work on our language skills.

Our daily lives before we had children was kinda crazy.  It’s that way when you are a foreigner in China.  People calling and popping in at all times.  Flexibility was the key for staying sane.  Since having kids, we’ve only become busier!    Now we get to do all the same things as before, but now with three little ones tagging along to make everything more interesting!

I spend my days teaching, preparing lectures and meeting with people all over the city.  Erica spends her time managing the household, taking care of the kids, and making friends whenever she has the opportunity.

Our lives in China are not really all that exotic or different.  It’s just a different culture than what we grew up in, so many things are done differently.  Most of the daily responsibilities such as shopping and paying bills take a lot more of our time in China than it did back home.  But you adjust and just don’t plan too much into a day.

All in all, we enjoy our life in China.
